Just Busy As Hell Is All

York University College Barbarians 2012
Hey chaps and chappettes I have had some messages off a couple of my regular readers asking why the blog has died down so much this month, especially the past 2 weeks since I posted the Vapnartak bat-reps. Don't worry I have not lost interest it is just that my time has become hugley occupied with my degree; as I am entering into the final few weeks of seminars before I have Easter to complete my dissertation and then sit my finals. Last week and this week have seen, seeing me, having to complete two quite meaty and tricky essays on comparative history.

Ontop of that there have been some pretty major rugby fixtures that I have had to put a lot of extra training for; last weekend was the White Rose Varsity (York Uni -v- Hull Uni) and I was representing the York College Barbarians (see the pictures of us all in our very sexy pink kits) as we faced the Hull University 2s. It was an epicly physical game, Hull didn't have a single player smaller than me which is saying something as I weigh 110kg!. We came from 12-0 down at half to 12-10 at full time. The game ended with us giving away a penalty in the dying seconds just ahead of the Hull try line. If we hadn't it would have been likely that we could have scored, as at this point our fitness was really starting to show, and won the match. Such a close game and any rugby fans out there want to spend 5 mins reading about can so do here: http://www.yorkvision.co.uk/sport/varsity-mens-rugby-york-college-barbarians-10-12-hull-2nd-xv/

You've got to love some bad ass pointing
In addition this Sunday is the semi-final in our league (we do a Top-14 type play off, semis and final system at the end of the normal league games) and we, James College Rugby are facing the other big hitting team in the league; Alcuin College Rugby. Normally our pack, which includes myself, are able to dominate the other teams opposite numbers as, frankly, we are bigger than they are. Not so with Alcuin, just like in the Hull 2s they are a BIG pack and it is going to be a seriously physical game, just as it always is when we face each other. So lots of training again this week around my writing this second comparative essay.

So things are going to be a little bit quiter for a little while longer on the 40k front. But don't worry once this week is past I will be able to get back to doing some more hobby related things, namely trying to get some more work done on my bikes for Gothcon and also looking towards the 6 Nations Cup (a mini ETC between the British teams, Ireland and this year Belgium) at the end of April just after my first set of finals (thankfully have the week following exam free).

So stay tuned and I will try to get some 40k related material up in due course.

Neil
