Bliadhna Mhath Ùr! Or for you none Gaelic speakers... Happy New Year!
2012 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me in terms of both gaming and the real world. But I am leaving it feeling positive and inspired for both in 2013. Which certainly is a good feeling. So 2013? BRING IT ON!
On top of all that I have my on going university studies that are helping me become a teacher in Sweden. One Swedish course is already passed, time for the second, and then onto the actual training part. Also i have the goal of driving my battered old body forwards for the start of the Swedish rugby season where I will be playing in their own 'top flight' league. Oh and of course lets not forget been able to spend lots of time have as much fun as possible with all my friends and family across Europe and the world.
So lots to do, lots to be excited about!!! So here is to hoping all you readers have an amazing 2013 and that everything you strive for, and more, comes true for you all.
Bliadhna Mhath Ùr!

Happy New Year Neil
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are keeping up with the Rugby!
Prepare yourself for disappointment with the Warmahordes. I wanted to enjoy it but the game is seriously flawed and repetitive not to mention a huge arms race for the new releases
So do you really speak Gaelic?
Trying to keep up with it, but we will see what my back has to say about playing in open age rugby again.
DeleteI really like Warmahordes. I has some flaws, but then IMO 40k has a hell of a lot more. Especially if you play un-comped 40k (I am fully converted to comp being better than none comp). Whereas Warmahordes at least is designed for competitive play and so suffers a lot less from rock paper scissors (when you play multiple caster lists obviously).
As for the arms race, hell 40k is even worse as it is the latest codex that invariably jumps miles ahead of the rest, which leaves players with a choice of jumping on the band wagon or suffering for 5-7 years until their codex gets updated. Whereas at least Warmahordes factions get the same bump across the board at the same time with their releases. As such the codex creep issue is much more minor than compared to 40k.
I learnt it at primary school in Scotland for a few years before my Dad left the RAF and moved to Preston to join BAe. So I can remember the basics, especially pronunciation, but I can't claim to speak it.
I enjoyed Warmahordes a lot at the beginning too. It just then became a memory game of who knew all the units better. I think it would be a much more fun game if it was not obsessed by timed turns and if you think 40K is bad for an arms race then just wait and see. Warmahordes has the worse arms race of any games that I have played. Far, far worse than 40K
ReplyDeleteAkbars in Manchester was insane this weekend gone. Sunday night at 6pm and a 20 minute wait for a table (which is better than the usual hour or two). Seriously 6pm on a Sunday and full.... kudos to them
