Why not take a pic of my dice?
Continuing from yesterday's batrep it is onto game 2; twas a cold December day in Göteborg and I had just cracked open a Julmumma (Swedish Christmas beer made with Madeira, Porter and Christmas spices = yum!) when suddenly there was some mustachioed Swede pointing a finger at me and saying that he wanted me to follow him into the 'Role Playing Room'... A moment of panic flashed through my brain as I thought I was about to be subjected to some kind of 50 Shades of Grey esque induction ceremony...

Pär's Droids deploy
Mmmmmm ok lots of high strength multi shot long ranged weapons versus an army with only 2 models that can shoot over 24" (and only 10 models that can even shoot at all). I was feeling like the proverbial fish in the barrel as I was deploying my forces in front of Pär's battle droids. Once again the only viable tactic was going to be for me to get over the board as quick as possible and into his army. Sitting back was not an option as he would just whittle me down over the course of the game. So to that end I chose my Primary mission to be get 2 units into his DZ and control his 'home' objective there. Whilst my secondary mission was to have more units in his DZ than he did at the end of the game. Pär chose the same primary as David did in the previous game; to hold both his objectives at the end of the game and his secondary was to have more units within 12" of the boards centre than me. The 'weather' for the game was that it was going to be night fight for the first 2 turns... wooooo! great for me except that we both promptly forgot all about it until turn 3 LOL!

Zombies take the hill and 'teleport' the trees off it
I won the roll to go first and began to shamble my horde forwards through a wooded hill on my right flank (that turned out to be totally harmless! shock horror) with my Spawn rushing up my left flank to hide behind some fuel depots. With no real shooting to speak of it was over to Pär; General Grevious, the Droidekas, and a unit of Droid Warriors move up to draw LOS on my spawn with the Drones bubble wrapping them. He opens fire and after blasting away 2 of my Spawn are reduced to piles of mutated goo. On the right flank he moves his Super Droids and 2 remaining Droid Warrior units through some woods but they BOTH turn out to contain Razor Wing nests and a bunch of his warriors and a shield drone are eaten. Mwaaa mwaaa mwaaa! Undeterred his Stealth Droids jump out from behind another fuel depot and together with the other robots they open fire on my Obliterators, and even though his Broadsides missed the pulse fire brought one low.

More morsels for the Lord of the Flies to Blurp on!
Turn 2 and I notice that whilst Pär has jumped his Stealth Droids back behind cover they are within charge range of my Spawn, and maybe even my Zombies... First though I move my remaining Obliterator and the Plague Marines forwards to gun down 7 Droid Warriors who have found themselves out in the open. Then the Lord of the Flies arrives (Pär christened it thus)
and buzzes up the left flank; first vector striking a few Drones and
then Blurping all over the nearby Droid Warriors killing all but 1 in a
single shot! God it is good! My Zombies crash 6" through and out of the wooded hill bringing them within 9" of the Stealth Droids. Mmmmm I managed that last game, wonder if I can do it again? First I charge my Spawn into the Stealth Droids so that only a single Droid can overwatch against me due to the angle of the charge. Next I pick up 2 Scottish ETC dice to roll the Zombies charge... and Scotland says... 9" WOOOO! I am one lucky bugger aren't I? The Zombies go crashing in and together with the Spawn and Typhus they rip the Stealth Droids to shreds. BBBBRRRAAAIIIIIINNNSSS!

Pär is now left with a whole load of Zombies and Spawn in front of his main battle line but he is a pro and has seen this all before. Cool as a cucumber he swings Grevious and the Droidekas round to face the Zombies whilst his Drones go after the Spawn with the Droid Warriors on the left flank. They open fire first and when the dust has settled I have one Spawn left on a single wound. He then lets rip with everything else against the Zombies; missile pods, marker lights, SMS and pulse rifles, all of which puts a huge dint in the Zombies but there are still a lot of them left....
Turn 3 and it is time for me to seal the deal. The Lord of the Flies vectors strikes the last Droid Warrior holding Pär's left flank and then Blurps all over another unit killing over half of them. My Spawn tries to charge the remaining Drones but is snipped down by their overwatch fire. Next the Obliterator and Plague Marines finish off the Droid Warriors on the far right. Then it is down to the main event; the Zombies and Typhus multicharge both the last Droid Warrior squad and the Super Broadside Battle Droids. Pär puts up a valiant fight but alas the Nurgle nasties are too much and his robots are reduced to scrap metal.
From here on in the game is effectively mine. Pär tries to kill as many Zombies as possible in an attempt to wipe them out and prevent me scoring my Primary mission. He manges to kill all but 2 of them but alas with the Lord of the Flies and Typhus both bearing down on Gervious and the Droidekas the game ends and it is a win to me. Wooooo!

Once again, as with my first game against Utter, the whole battle was decided by my Zombies Usain Bolting their way into combat on Turn 2 and getting in amongst his army far too early. Good fun game all the same and Pär is a great laugh to play against. Plus his army is gorgeous to boot. Now I just need to get my new Circle force sorted over Christmas so that he can give me a return kicking with his Legion in the new year.
Hope you enjoyed the past 2 batreps. One more to go which I will hopefully get typed up tomorrow.
Cheers
Neil
